About us
While many performance opportunities exist for professional dancers, in
the past only minor parts behind the professionals were given to younger
dancers. It is
the goal of The Chesapeake Ballet Company to highlight these young
dancers and give them the chance to perform in professionally-staged
productions. Lead by Executive Director, Barbara Haskell, and Artistic
Directors, Dmitri Malikov and Ninel
Cherevko, it is the goal of the Chesapeake Ballet Company to perform two
ballets each season. Included in the Company’s repertoire will
be an annual staging of the holiday classic, The Nutcracker. The company will add another production to
their repertoire each spring. In the past, Mrs. Haskell, Mr. Malikov,
and Ms. Cherevko have staged productions of The Sleeping Beauty,
Cinderella, Coppelia, Snow White & the Seven Dwarfs, The Snow Queen, and A Midsummer Night's Dream to rave reviews.
Much effort has gone into each production to raise the performance
level from what might be seen in a dance recital. Performances have been
held on the main stage of
The Chesapeake Arts Center and for this holiday season, the company will
perform on the stage of the newly-built Children's Theatre of Annapolis
located on Bayhead Road in Annapolis. While
each production by The Chesapeake Ballet Company is beautifully costumed
and professionally lighted, the use of many props and special effects
enhance the enjoyment for the audience.

Sponsorship Opportunities
To make Chesapeake Ballet Company a successful experience for all the dancers involved, the company is seeking the support of the local community. Costuming and staging of productions of this caliber can quickly become exorbitant and opportunities exist for sponsorship on many levels. The company is actively seeking sponsorship from individuals and businesses while we seek a non-profit status.
